If there is no trade agreement between the UK and another World Trade Organization (WTO) member after 31 December 2020, you will have to trade with that country under WTO rules. As a European Union member, the UK is part of about 40 trade agreements which the union has with more than 70 countries. If the UK leaves the EU in a no-deal Brexit on 29 March, it will immediately lose these deals.
