Westpac is absolutely terrible. I've been with them with an Altitude Black credit card bundle for all of 4 weeks and I have had enough. The AMEX half of the bundle is perfect because it is handled by American Express, a provider that knows how to provide services. The Westpac Online Investing will let you place orders for small parcels of shares -eg: $50 worth as the OP did; the minimum Brokerage fee remains the same, so it's upto the buyer or seller be aware of this. Luckily, as a new customer you should get "up to $50 free brokerage on each trade in the first month" so you can purchase more if you wish. Trades can be made via desktop, phone or the Westpac Online Investing App, which did win a 2019 Mozo Experts Choice Award for Exceptional Share Trading App. Brokerage costs come to $19.95 or 0.11%, whichever is greater, and there are no account maintenance fees to worry about.
